It's pretty common to hear residents chatting about how hard it is to make their own textures, and they put off doing it either because they don't know how, or think they need expensive software.
You may think that fancy software makes all the difference but honestly, there's software out there that won't cost a packet load, in fact its FREE.

I'm not saying that fancy software programs aren't any good, in fact I use both Gimp and Photoshop. If you have Photoshop, here's your very own video to show you how to make seamless textures painlessly.
You only have to look around Second Life to see the amount of stores that sell textures to know that this is a thriving industry in SL.
Let me plant a seed in your mind ... think about Christmas, Valentine's Day or Easter - there are lots of holidays and celebrations that come around each year. Residents rush out and buy new textures, make up cards to give to their friends and loved ones.
